I haven't been religiously blogging. I'm busy, ultra busy. School finished at 10pm almost everyday. And aiming to give my parrots a better diet, i gave them fresh veggies in the morning which means by the time i reached home, i have to change their newspaper bedding. As the previous entries, my feathered kids have learnt that correct behaviour will be rewarded. So i reinforce what i have taught every night as long as i go home.
I spend 15 to 30 minutes on the training each time and i try to teach new things. If not, i will get bored myself. So newest thing i taught on top of the previous tricks was fetch. Honestly, i got frustrated on Day 1 teaching Twinkle as he become aggressive over the treats in my hand. I jailed him, the usual punishment, on the second day. It worked wonders and to my surprise, he understood what i want. HAha seriously, i dun expect Twinkle to know the trick. I just tried if he can get it. He's just an amazing brave bird! DaTing as usual the brighter one, got the concept on the first day but not doing it well. HOwever, on the second day, she learnt it the proper way while she watched me training Twinkle. Oh, in addition, DaTing had learnt the 'shake hand' trick which twinkle knew and she's perfecting it as well. How amazing!
In my humble opinion, training is not forcing the birds to do wat they dun wan. In fact, it actually build better bonds btw the owner and the feathered kid as there is some sort of communication going on. Serious! I have seen this myself. Both of my babies are become closer to me, very close. Remember they used to preen each other excessively? But after the training, both like stalking me. Hahaha... The bad point about this training which i am not sure if it's associated is the fact that DaTing turn aggressive towards Yida. She nipped him on every attempt to pick her up. There was one weekend which i had to work both Sat n Sun. Both birdies at his place under his care. Not sure if my absence made DaTing went berserk. I reckon Yida's repeating attempts to pick her up has program her to nip him everytime she sees him. Really... it's quite bad. Yida is quite sad as well. I have decided to detrain DaTing for doing that using the jail method. Yida will pick her up and if she bites, i will grab her immediately for jail sentence. HOpe it works. Oh oh, muffin learnt roll over too! See when i can get the chance to video it.
I sleep at 1am every night except for last night. I slept at 230am, packing the stuffs needed for Mandy's actual day, painting my nails, packed my clothes as i will be going to mandy's place from yida's. You cannot imagine how long i didn't paint my nails myself! It's like probably 2 years? The only wanted colour i had was all coagulated. I have to shake, knock and tolerate the thick sticky texture. Going for a pedicure did cross my mind, but i have class today till dunno what time. Cannot risk it. Sigh..... I hate to paint my nails. I dun have nice nails to begin with.
I still have the pics which Jadey et al came over to my place. Haven't even looad them yet. I still have my lab notebook for school to follow-up. Hiaz MuFFin haven't been getting her dose of veggies as well... haiz... Haven't seen her for FOUR days! =( GOing over tonight after school. Really hope school don't end late.
DaTing definitely don't perform well with other ppl ard. She tends to be suspicious over the surroundings. Thank god, it's my mum taking the video. Haha i wonder what will happen if it's Yida taking it.
Twinkle, the cutest birdie, as usual was too driven by his treats to be bothered by the surroundings. I like to see him do the tricks. It's like so 'cartoony'. The way he does it like the video has fast forwarded. Haha
