My neighbour living on the 5th storey (2 floors below me, sharing the same staircase) has a daushaund mix. I often see her walking with her dog offleash. Her dog would stay around where she is even she sits down and chat with her friends. I saw this dog numerous times and is appalled by her obedience. 2 weeks ago, while bring my little cousin Gabriel for a walk, we saw the pair again. This time, i walked toward them and pet her, commenting that her dog is super duper obedience and smart. Out of curiousity, i asked her how she trained. She proudly reply no training, she all learnt by herself. Hmm, my guess was she actually did train her unknowingly. There are a few times when i was making my way to the lift, saw her at the staircase again. Think she already 'know' me, very naturally, she would come over to let me pet her. Sweet dog.
My brother was also telling me about this dog. He told me how her owner bring the dog to the common corridor leading to the lift and asked my brother to press the lift for her dog. That day, my brother shared lift with a dog. lol. She would just go roam around the neighbourhood and return home herself. How amazing! And how can the owner not worry?
Yesterday, after my dinner with my family at the coffeeshop, i saw her at my void deck. As usual, i would squat down and reach out my hand for her to smell me. Ok, by now, i gave her a name called 'Lai Lai' (come come) haha.. coz when i say lai lai she would responsd. She snuggled her head under my hands to request for a pet. Haha, it's not my dog anyway, so i dun really care letting her have her way. I did as she requested. After showering her with our attention, we have to go home. Lai Lai just stood there and watched us leave. I tot her owner was somewhere in the void deck so i didn't think much. As i approached the lift, she was still there. To my surprise, i saw a bunch of the other race group cycling and walking around her. I was worried if anything bad would happen to her. So we went back and asked her to follow me. She did. On the way, she saw a JRT and played with him. She did something darn funny. She scooted. It was something we never see before! Hhaha all of us were there luffing. Not to forget she seduced that JRT, showing her backside to him all the time. The owner had a hard time pulling the JRT away. She was following that JRT all the way till i decided to go back since she will be safe. Not as i predicted, she stopped whatever she was doing and looked at me. I knew i have to bring her back to her home. haha... I called out " lai lai, hui jia (go home)!" She came along with me, into the lift.
Along the common corridor on the 6th floor, i raced abit with her. When we need to part at the staircase, i pointed towards the down riding steps and said, "Hui jia!" She just frozed there and watched me go up my flight of stairs. As i turned my head, and repeated to ask her go home. She climbed up the stairs towards me. Haha.. how sweet!! Anyway, i showed her where i stayed. Me and Yida decided that we should bring her down to 5th floor. Unfortunately, none of us know which house she stays in. There wasn't anyone home in any of the houses. Hmm... we saw her wagging her tail at a door and knew instinctively it was her house. Again, i repeated "Hui Jia!" Guess what she did? She went up to the door step and sat there. As we left, she never follow. She was home, but no one at home so she had to sit at the door step and wait for the owner.
Seriously, i'm sure the owner didn't really give much attention to lai lai. There were a few bumps on her body but she's amazingly fat. She followed me coz i gave her lotsa attention which she's probably deprived of (my assumption!). Our conclusion is, the lesser you give the dog attention, the more obedient your dog will be. It's true, Jadey also listed out some life examples she knew.

I managed to get one good pic of Lai Lai. =) The sweet gal!
