God has to remind me that i neglected my parrots. He reminded me by making Twinkle sick. He has to do it on my favourite bird.
This time is no joke. My tamest, beloved Twinkle is really sick. So sick that you wun hear a single sound from him. So sick that he's not at his seed tray when you scoop fresh seeds into it. So sick that he rather stay at the bottom of the cage. So sick that he rather sleep and sleep. Looking at Dating, you know what is a healthy bird like. And to make things worse, God let it rain. People who keep parrots who know how a bird temperature would drop when it is sick. A bird feet are not suppose to be cold but warm.
I had company medical checkup in the morning after i left my heart at home with twinkle. I called my mum incessantly to ensure Twinkle is okay. Same old reply i get, "Twinkle is at the cage bottom." I knew i need immediate action. Dr Hsu will only be in tomorrow. I dun think i should wait any longer. When birds start to look sick, they will deteriorate very fast. My mind couldn't allow me to work nor do my reports. I finally decided to take non-paid emergercy leave ontop of the five days leave i took for the month for muffin and my exam. I reached home to see Twinkle head wet. It's wet by what i dunno but definitely not water. The feathers were clumped up. I quickly set up my carrier and put a centrifuge tube of warm water to keep him warm.
Twinkle was seen by the famous Dr Lye who i think he's an arrogant man.
First thing he said was, "You have a very sick bird." Win lorz... It make me feel SO MUCH BETTER! Then asked abt the food and if in contact with other birds. He said most probably is the food. Could be insecticide or some other possible source of infection from the food. Lifting Twinkle off from the perch in the carrier, he said, "He's very weak and skinny!" He made me feel like an irresponsible owner which i truely is for the late few months. He gave Viravet, a broad spectrum antibiotics. He squeeze out 2mm of the paste and force feed to Twinkle. Advised me to feed soft boil egg yolk, banana, papaya or handfeeding formula. Told me to hydrate him with soy milk, good source of protein, and organic veggies to birds only! The visit was a whooping $73! Who cares if Twinkle recovers.
Seriously, i didn't really like him but his advises are worth to listen. Thank god, James, the admin of ministryofpets, is going to him as well. Out of his good will, he gave me some of his handfeeding formula. We rushed home in cab. As much as i wanna it to be fast, we were caught in the jam. The thing i hate most now is in an airconditioned area with Twinkle. He needs warmth.
i quickly set up a hospital cage and prepared the handfeeding formula, mixed with soy milk. I think he only managed to eat 0.3ml. After every punch from the syringe, he kept bobbing his head, threaten to regurgitate. Good thing is that he ate back what he threw out.
Please pray for my son.
I rather have another relapse instead of him getting so sick. It hurts me.
