My cousin, son of my Da gu, got married with his JAL air stewardess wife on 10 August. They held their wedding at Paramount Restaurant which was situated in a sleazy building. Prostitutes of different nations were parked outside the bars in the dilapidated building. We made our way towards the restaurants with our dropped jaws. There were no receptionist, no photo album, no professional photographer, no hosts, no dry ice effects and no recap video before the dinner start. The dinner started at 9pm and i was amazed by how fast the dishes were cleared. Less than 10 mins after the dish was served, the auntie would come by and ask in mandarin, "Have you finished? If not, i am going to clear it." !!!!!! WTF, this was the top class service i had. When a clean plate was requested, it was thrown onto the table with a 'NAH'! According to my brother, refilling of drinks should come from the right side of that guest but this auntie just shot her hands across your face to get the glass. She did overfill a glass and the drink spilled onto my brother's chair while he went toilet. It was an awful experience! Oh my brother came back from his first visit to the toilet and told me how bad it was. AFter he came back from the second visit, two out of three urinal were flooded! @_@
After a morning chat with my the other cousin, i found out many horrendous truth. When my cousin went over to bring the bride over from her house, there wasn't any jie-meis or brothers from either side. Coz the idea was not approved by my Da-gu. During the serving of tea session (a chinese custom where all newly weds have to serve the elders tea), my Da gu actually asked them to kneel and the wife to call her 'Mummy'. Of coz she did as told. However, my Da gu wasn't satisfied.
She demanded loudly," When you call me mummy, you have to look into my eyes!"
When the newly wed left for the maternal side, my Da gu actually said loudly, " She's not a virgin, haven't date for a week already come over and sleep. My daughter never even go over and sleep for once!"
Now you know why there wasn't any receptionist, photo album, professional photographer, hosts, dry ice effects and recap video. This were not all. The couple did not invite their friends. The dowager did not allowed too! CAn you BELIEVE THIS????????????? Oh, they were also not allowed to move out into their own love nest.
They dated for 5 years. It was quite obvious that my Da gu dun like her. And if i were her, i would not have even married into the family. I will probably splashed that cup of tea onto her face and walked off. Husband and MIL come in a package, a frightening one. Even though she is older than my cousin, it does not mean she's at the losing end. She's pretty and all. I guessed she must have tot that way...... I really give her all my sympathy, ALL!
Marriage is once in a lifetime. If you were to get married so miserably, why get married? The poor lady has to face my da gu for the rest of her life. And that balless cousin of mine did nothing!!
