Mum gave me a fright on a Monday morning (13/7/07). Dad had admitted himself into hospital. I was quite appalled to know that it was due to chest pain. Chest pains are no joke, they are indications of heart problem. He was awaken by his chest pain around 3am in the morning. My mum knew it but tot it wasn't serious when he still could change into his uniform and head out to work. Unfortunately, the pains intensified when he reached the void deck. It was so excruciating that pressing the lift button and wait for it seemed very long. Instead of going back home to change and get my mum, he halted a taxi himself and admitted into CGH. It was quite lucky that there were cabs around and fyi, he do not have a hp. We were totally glad that he never faint somewhere along the road.
The chest pains didn't start on that day. It was months before when he first felt it. My old folks hid it from us! Geez! They totally do not understand the risks carried with it. Was even more shocked to hear that he actually went jogging and swimming while experiencing those. Dad really had great endurance and was awesomely LUCKY!
An ECG was done. Abnormabilities in the heartbeat was shown, most probably clogged coronary arteries. An angiogram was done to investigate further. It was a test where a tiny camera was inserted into either the vessel on the arm or the groin. This was to check for the severity of blockage as well as which arteries were clogged. The results proved that one of the coronary artery was 100% blocked while the other two were 20%. A bypass would be needed if all three are 100% blocked. He only need to do 'ballooning' now. Not sure if a stent will be needed. Though it sounded like a less harsh treatment, but a bypass would give a better prognosis.
On the very same day my dad was admitted, April returned from tassie. I told her i was heading towards CGH after school but later changed my mind since Mum asked me to visit him next morning instead. To my surprise, April called me asking where am i and that she was at CGH. She wanted to deliever the Krispy Kreme from Aussie to me! Awwwwwwwwww *touched* I haven't even had my dinner when she called me. So sweet of her. In the end, we met her at TM to get the sweetest donuts i ever taste ^_^ Thanks Eugene for delivering too =)

Fresh from Aussie!

Yummy to eat!
Mum called me on Sat night (18/8/07) while we were in the cinema. She sounded weird, refusing to continue and requested me to return her call after the show. Dad was feeling uncomfortable and refused to make known to my mum. My mum only realised it when dad appeared pale and having cold sweat n feet. He relieve himself by taking half a pill more of the required dosage.
My mum will send my dad into the Heart center this morning. He is scheduled for the 'ballooning'. Poor dad has to fast from 4pm onwards from yesterday. No food no drinks. He was cold and famished! Going to visit him during lunch time!
Though i wasn't very close to my dad from young, i still feel for him. I feel for my mum going through a rough patch with my dad. I really hope he quit smoking after the 'ballooning' as the treatments are expensive.
I bought him the nicotin gums to curb his smoking urges during his hospital stay at CGH. Apparently, it didn't help. He went missing one morning to walk to Simei central to get packs of cigarette. Sigh~

THey are darn expensive! 30 bucks per pack!
Let's hope he can quit smoking slowly and have a better lifestyle! HOpe he recovers soon!
