I was early for work today. It was something unusal. Why? Coz we woke up at 530am this morning!!!!! For a good reason of course, our furkid. She just started BARF remember? The middle portion of the wing actually got her crying. It was like she cannot eat it but scare we scold her so she kept holding on to it in her mouth, whining. Totally heart wrenching though i only saw it once. The rest i heard it from his mum. Out of good intentions, her mum smashed the bones of the middle portion with the meat and skin intact. For one big concern i have for BARF was the stucked bones. To give myself a peace of mind, i opened up one of those auntie smashed. Gosh... small broken bones which i find it sharp. I dun wan to risk any chance of tradegy so i took out the wing tips of the next meal and gave it to her. I explained to his mum the reason, and she took it quite well except was defensive over why she smashed it. I did not blame her for that. Everyone who see her cry would wanna do something to ease her 'suffering'.
Oh back to the good reason on waking up so early, we actually went marketing. WET marketing. I hate to go wet market but out of my maternal love (haha!), we went to the only stall i know in Singapore that sells chicken wing tips. It is a Tekka Market. Before going, i was so worried we couldn't find the stall in time! We are fortunate enough to get it right at the second stall! 3kg worth of wing tips, necks and liver were bought @ $6. Needless to say, they were cheaper than supermarket and Yida claimed fresher too! Err.. i dunno how to see if they are fresh. =x Anyone care to teach me? I left my phone number with the uncle so he could contact me if there is any new batch. HEE
We reached home at 630am and came to realise our taxi cab was more expensive than the food we bought. How stupid!!! ARgh!! Quickly, we packed for a few meals while the rest were kept frozen. The necks were chopped up to 5cm. Jadey recommended necks as they are the easiest to start with for raw meaty bones. My girl very clever, she started eating with the easiest to the hardest to chew ones, ie, breast meat, necks and wing tips. For carrots, she abit spoilt, need me to handfeed her. Hee This morning, no crying while eating and i feel she's happier (hope it's not just me!). Oh before giving the meal to her, i soaked them in diluted Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar which i drank it with honey yday night. Tell you it tasted so good!! Hmmmmmm! ACV also served to inhibit bacteria on the surface of the raw food.
His dad stared at us in shock when i told him we went marketing at 530am. LOL Well, i believe nothing beats the careful thought menu for her diet. We gg to give her chicken liver on Sat! I just realise gizzard is not liver ... diao! SHIt! Anyway, we see how it goes! I'm really happy that she get the freshest food for now! Sorry no pictures! I'm sure you guys know how chicken neck, wing tips and liver looked like right? Hee... Who would wake up so early in the morning with picture snapping in mind?
AFter work would be dry marketing for my two feathered kids at home!
