I cannot believe i'm typing this entry after what just happened.
Anyway, here's how it goes. MuFFin's bumps are driving me a lil paranoid. Reading a thread on the benefits of barf had further tempted me on trying. For people who doesn't know what B.A.R.F, it means Bone And Raw Food. Initially, things like bacteria contamination on the raw meat will upset the doggie's tummy, dogs will bite human or turn aggressive, did impede me from starting on the diet. But after reading much from websites, forum and friends, i realised they are all myths. Dogs' stomachs have evolved to take raw meat. Velvet and Cotton fed on that and they never bite me before. In fact, they are much more obedient than MuFFin.
I started off giving MuFFin 10% of her body weight which means 600g or raw food a day, 300g each meal. 60% of raw meaty bones, 30% of muscle meat and 10% of vegetables. We went to cold storage intending to only try one meal of BARF.
2kg of raw meaty bones (chicken wings). Only gave the middle and tip portion, 180g for each meal.
Giving them a good rub will clean away all the blood residues. Some people may think it's plain disgusting to give them that. But actually it's their natural diet. Just like parrots, owners just advocates natural food like veggies and fruit. It's like e same thing just that carnivores are abit yucky.
Chicken breast meat with carrots. Supposed to be 90g of breast meat and 10g of carrots. First time, only agar agar.
Her first B.A.R.F meal!
Worrying that she do not know how to chew the bones, i held out a tip for her. All she did was to lick and lick like eating the kibbles but nothing goes in. It was one hour after her feeding time n i guessed she was hungry. She got upset and disappointed initially. I slitted the tip abit and broke it into two to let her know the goodness in it. She really took a long while to discover her functions of those huge molars. We all were so happy and proud when crunching sounds were heard.
She's trying to eat it.... but dunno how..... lick and smell but no food....:(
The discovery of molars! Look at the remnants of bone.
Here's another one.
There were times when she got so tired of chewing. She just lie on her belly to crush the bones. All the bones were consumed on her pee tray as if it was her dining table.
Taking a break from chewing this rmb. Sometimes, she just refused to put the bone down even if she's taking a break. Think she really likes it but it's just too tedious.
Here's a video where you can hear her crushing the bones and Yida's hyena's laughters. Sorry i got the orientation wrong again.
We wanted to get the non-rinse shampoo so to clean her muzzle every meal. But PLC doesn't carry what we desired. In the end, we bought her perfume.
Smells good! V ex... 20 over bucks coz of the benefits!
Right now, we are on our way to give her varieties. Feel free to let me know what are good! Oh, her poo was greatly reduced by 1/4 and she drinks lesser water! Now, we gg to limit her commercial food. Nothing beats home-prepared meals by mummy and daddy!
