I have a trainee for five days. She is here to relieve weekend shifts with my former colleague, Zul. Desperately, the company hired someone without advertising, without experience and not graduated. The company hired a girl aged 20 years old, doing Bioengineering in NTU, moving on to her second year. I was there in the interview for all 5 candidates but she left me the deepest impression. She talked with confidence and believe it or not, i like candidates to say "I wanted to work part-time for extra allowance." Come on, this is the real world! My GM likes the second girl too. We narrowed down to two choices her and another guy.
Both of them were of equal chances. They were equally 'rawed'. The differences would be characters and their ability to impress. The guy was abit too quiet which i think wouldn't ask much question when in doubt. Ok i'm being too judgemental. haha.. Anyway, i chose her! In my opinion, i still think that girls are easier to be taught than guys. Guys usually like to do things their way while girl then to pick up exactly what was being taught.
First day of training, she made me realise how young she is! She is only 3 years younger than me yet i feel the differences! My colleagues teased me saying she look like my younger version. Haha... not really... I dun giggles at her when something is not right. But she giggles in such a way that i dun find it irritating or acting cute. It was something i have not seen for a long time. Feeling old i guess. I can't help being a sisterly figure! Haha maybe i don't have a sister ba.. Don't wan to see a freshie being take advantage by the social university.
She's forgetful at times but tried hard to recall. Well, that is forgivable i guess. Besides that, she's willing to learn too! She will say things like "I will try to remember next time." "Dun tell me.. i can remember it!" Those things were came with an exaggerated panicking expression! It just made me laughed to see that expression again! Haha.. kiddie... Like i always told my colleague, i felt like i am in the primary school prefect thingy once again. Buddy-buddy system... Haha At times, she asked if she could go toilet! So cute!!
Time passed. She completed her training today. Hope she remembered it all. Wanted to help her as much as possible but i guess independence has to step in eventually! Tomorrow will be her official day where help no longer becomes available unless through calls. Good luck for her!! This little sweetie bought me a thank you gift too!! So sweet of her!! Thank you so much!
